Wow, I Suck.

The title says it all here. I’ve been distracted and ignored this blog for far too long. Sorry about that, folks. Wild Rumpus has about 13,000 on her, and I’ve barely covered 8000 in this blog.

My problem is that a fair bit has happened: thousands of miles have been sailed, vacations taken, things broken, and some things fixed while I neglected to write this blog. I failed to write about the passage from Grenada to St. Thomas, St. Thomas to Turks and Caicos, Turks and Caicos to the Bahamas, or even any detail on the most recent trip from North Carolina to the Dominican Republic. Wow, I really do suck. So, to quote the classic movie Team America, “we’re going to need a montage.”

Grenada to USVI

The Crew: Stacey (taking the pic), Eric, Kevin, Bill, Matt, and yours truly.

And here is our last view of Grenada.

Dinner at Paradise Beach Club on Carriacou. Best lobster I’ve ever had anywhere, including Maine.

A quick stop on Guadalope.

A bit of sailing in sketchy weather.

Arrival in the USVI.

And a relaxing pee to end the trip.

Corinthian Yacht Club Visits the BVI

The Corinthian Yacht Club had its Commodore’s Cruise Out event in the BVI. So Wild Rumpus joined the party.

USVI to Bahamas

Hurricane season was rapidly approaching (per the insurance policy), so it was time to leave the Virgin Islands and head north. Somehow, I managed to take only a handful of pictures of the crew or our stop in Turks and Caicos. I wish I could honor and thank all of you here with photos. Feel free to shoot over pics in the comments. Will Nazarowski, Steve Matles, and Irina Walker joined Stacey, Eric, and me for the trip.

North Carolina to Dominican Republic

We were aiming at St Thomas. Rocky (Rodrigo) and his beard joined us for the trip. We planned to head east and then south. The weather kept delaying us. Thanksgiving was looming, which meant we had the terrible combination of sailing and a deadline. And, of course, the wind seemed to emanate directly from St. Thomas. So, we ended up in the Dominican Republic, which was lovely.

I Am What I Am

I’m sorry, but I’ll try to do better. I do have a lot to blog about. We’ve had things break, some successful repairs, some frustrating failures, some good experiences with service folks, and some a lot less so. But I am what I am.

Thanks for the montage! Beautiful places! Your life sounds wonderful! (Even with things breaking, bad weather, unexpected detours, etc.).

Your title is incorrect, though. Perhaps “enjoying the experiences sometimes delays documenting them.” 🤓
