Moving Angst, Reminising, And A Boat Show In France
Settling into life in California means everything is different, but also more of the same. SNAFU (for you non-military types, google it).
5 am. Wife and kids are asleep. Dogs are asleep. East-coast guests are asleep, though there is a significant danger that they will soon be awake since it is 830 on their internal clocks.

As it turns out, a Sprinter van fits Teresa, Sam, Ella, Emma (our au pair from South Africa), a bunch of luggage, dog crates, and me. It was a bit of a clown car, and the route was dictated by our need to stop in Dallas, Texas. Picked Our New Neighborhood And Visited a Boat Show
Moving to an entirely new part of the country is complicated. Not only do you need to find a house, but that house needs to be in a neighborhood, and that neighborhood will have schools, etc. So, moving to San Francisco involved a lot more thant just looking at boats as it did in my imagination.. Welcome to Wild Rumpus Sailing– some thoughts and a journal of sorts from a middle-aged, bald, overweight guy considering what the heck to do in retirement.
